The Morocco 2026 International Technical Tour toured fields in Larache, where the delegation visited Afrique Berry, a member of the iBerry cooperative, and African Blue, two operations where varietal diversity allows working at different production times and expanding commercial alternatives.

During the visits, the delegation observed blueberry varieties such as Sekoya Pop, Apex, Madeira, Cascade, and Eterna, among others. The presence of different varieties allowed them to see firsthand how companies distribute their supply throughout the season.

The activity was organized by Blueberries Consulting as part of the XLIII International Seminar on Red Fruits Morocco 2026. After the technical and commercial day held in Tangier, the participants continued the program in the fields of Larache, accompanied by the technical teams of the companies visited.

A portfolio for different moments of the season

Working with different varieties allows for fruit to be available at different times of the season and expands the options for serving different market windows. This was one of the characteristics the delegation observed during their visits.

The varietal diversity present in the visited operations provides more options to organize the supply and respond to commercial opportunities throughout the season.

The tour also included raspberry plantations, extending the visit to other red fruits produced in Morocco.

Two operations seen from the field

The first visit in Larache was to Afrique Berry, a member of the iBerry cooperative, and the delegation later toured African Blue. At both farms, their technical teams showcased the crops and explained how they work with different varieties throughout the season.

After the day in Tangier, the participants were able to tour the plantations, learn about the varieties present in the fields and listen directly to those who work in the operations visited.

The tour thus incorporated a field dimension into the seminar program, allowing participants to observe on commercial farms some of the topics related to genetics, production and market that had been part of the presentations and conversations of the meeting.

At the end of the day, the delegation also visited Agropol, an agricultural supply park under construction in the area. The visit provided a complementary perspective on the services and infrastructure that support local production development.

A delegation from six countries

The activity brought together participants from Chile, Mexico, Spain, the Netherlands, Peru and Morocco, who continued on-site the activities developed during the seminar.

The visit brought professionals from different countries face-to-face with two berry operations in Morocco and allowed them to learn firsthand about their crops, varieties and ways of organizing production during the season.

In Afrique Berry and African Blue, varietal selection revealed a dimension that goes beyond simply what to cultivate: it also plays a role in decisions about when to have the fruit available and what commercial opportunities that production can address. The visit to Agropol provided a complementary perspective on the supplier network that supports the agricultural development of the region.
