The value of global exports of blueberries Fresh blueberry exports grew 154% in the last seven years and exceeded US$7.100 billion, according to the IBO Global Blueberry Report 2026.

According to the report team's estimates, this level is only surpassed within the fruit industry by bananas, citrus fruits, apples, table grapes, avocados, and kiwis. The report also highlights that this position is achieved despite the penetration of blueberry It continues to be lower than that of other fruits in many markets.

Greater presence in the markets

The growth in export value occurred in parallel with a greater availability of blueberries fresh throughout the year and a more regular presence of the product in both established and emerging markets.

The IBO also identifies favorable conditions for consumption, including convenience and consumption as a snack. At the same time, it notes the relatively high price of blueberry Compared to other fruits, it continues to be a limitation in markets affected by greater pressures on the cost of living.

These differences in penetration show that the expansion of the category has not been uniform across markets. While some have more established consumption patterns, in others the blueberry It still maintains a comparatively smaller presence.

Quality and absorption capacity

So far, demand has kept pace with the growth in traded volumes. The IBO notes that the market has managed to absorb supply increases that previously raised concerns about a potential oversupply, provided the fruit meets the required quality specifications.

The report cautions, however, that this absorption capacity should not be taken for granted going forward. As fruit availability increases, market quality demands will also continue to evolve.
