Spain exported 2.114 billion euros worth of red fruits, with blueberries contributing a third of the value.
Spanish soft fruits closed 2025 with 426.527 tons exported and foreign sales of €2.114 billion, confirming the sector's importance in European markets. Within this overall result, the most noteworthy figure is that of blueberry: with less than a quarter of the total volume, it accounted for a third of the exported value.
According to data from the Department of Customs and Special Taxes, processed by FEPEX, the blueberry It reached 100.241 tons and 691,5 million euros in exports during 2025. That is equivalent to 23,5% of the total volume and 33% of the value generated by all Spanish red fruits abroad, a share that confirms its relevance within the country's export business.
Strawberries remain Spain's leading berry in both volume and value. Last year, 265.183 tons were exported, generating €871 million in revenue, representing 62% of total volume and 41% of total export value. Raspberries, meanwhile, reached 53.178 tons and €505 million, accounting for 12,5% of volume and 23,9% of value. Together, these three products represent over 98% of the sector's export volume and revenue.
In that context, the blueberry It stands out for its particularly favorable volume-to-return ratio. While it exports considerably less than strawberries, it contributes a very significant portion of total revenue, reinforcing its position within a product range geared towards higher-value markets.
Blackberries and currants maintain a much more limited presence, although they continue to contribute to the diversity of the Spanish offering. In 2025, blackberry exports totaled 6.765 tons for €43 million, while currant exports reached 1.160 tons for €3,7 million. Their share is smaller, but they broaden the commercial portfolio into specific niches.
In terms of destination, Europe continues to account for a significant portion of purchases. Germany remained the main market, with 123.851 tons and €631 million, representing 29% of the exported volume and 30% of the total value. It was followed by France, with 60.432 tons and €226,1 million, and the United Kingdom, with 46.675 tons and €281 million, maintaining its importance despite Brexit. The Netherlands, with 42.623 tons and €242 million, and Italy, with 30.181 tons and €119 million, were also among the most important markets.
The interpretation of this data is quite clear. Strawberries continue to lead in volume, but the blueberry It confirms its increasingly important place due to its ability to generate value. In a highly specialized export sector, this economic weight consolidates it as one of the berries with the greatest contribution to the Spanish fresh fruit business.
