Agrio, the mobile application that "detects" diseases in plants through images

Smartphones have dominated our daily lives for the past few years. Just enough to observe how we stay connected to the environment that surrounds us through the various functions of these devices.

But the development of smartphones does not seem to stop, and over time aims to be part of virtually any area of our lives. Or so it seems if we talk about the agricultural world.

And there is already an application that allows to detect possible diseases present in some plants. How? By scanning a photograph that is taken to the surface of the leaves, stem or root.

"Agrio" is the name of the free digital utility launched last year, but which is just being discovered by scientists and specialists in agriculture. It is available for download on any mobile device that works with both Android and iOS operating systems.

About her, Saillog LTD, the company responsible for its creation, explains that "it is a solution based on artificial intelligence that helps identify and treat plant diseases and pests." The same firm details that the application allows uploading crop images to a cloud.

"From there, the image can be shared with the team of experts or sent to the artificial intelligence algorithm for automatic identification of the disease. The answer will be sent to you in seconds if there is a conclusion. In addition, the team of experts can share their opinion based on the images loaded and help you decide how to treat the disease, "says the product description.

Functionality

The most interesting thing about "Agrio" has to do with the simplicity that is presented for its use. To start, the application requests the creation of a user, a security key and that's it, it will be possible to access its benefits.

To perform the first analysis, it is necessary to go to the "upload image" option and select the desired file in the image gallery of the device where the digital utility was installed.

Once the image has been uploaded, the system will ask what kind of leaf or fruit you wish to consult. From there, a list of items that can be consulted immediately will be displayed.

"When selecting the type of plant is when the magic begins. The application through its Artificial Intelligence performs an analysis and automatically detecting the type of condition that the plant has, together with a percentage of accuracy of the diagnosis, "says the company Saillog LTD.

After a few minutes, a screen will appear on the screen where all the data of the analysis made by Agrio will be reflected. In it you can look at data related to the disease, its possible antidotes and even methods to prevent the appearance of new strains.

If the case occurs in which the image that was uploaded is from a totally healthy plant, the application will send a notification in which it effectively confirms the good condition of the sample that was presented through the multimedia file.
