Transport of Argentine blueberries by sea could mark a "record" at the close of 2018

DHL Global Forwarding, a company specializing in the transport of cargo by air or sea, estimated this week that by the end of the 2018 shipments of blueberries from Argentina to various destinations in the world will mark a "record".

The company reported that fruit shipments from that country will grow above the 30% if compared to 2017 figures. They also detailed that the use of ships to get the products to their final market destinations increased 10%.

Through a bulletin, they highlighted that exports start mainly from the provinces of Tucumán, Entre Ríos and Norte, and that they are transferred to markets as important as the United States, Canada, the British and the Dutch.

"This is a logistical trend that is associated with the best practices of producers in terms of treatment of plants, which provides higher quality fruits and resistance to longer transit times," says DHL Global Forwarding in the text published by Argentine media.

They add that the use of new technologies of controlled atmospheres, which conserve fruit during the sea crossing, makes this alternative one of the most suitable for maintaining the competitiveness of the product in the destination market.

Eduardo Rodrígues, general manager of DHL Global Forwarding Argentina, stated that the organization he represents has been specializing in the transport of perishable products for years.

He insisted that they work constantly to improve service, which, he assured, allows local producers to have the opportunity to grow in markets of any global latitude.

"With its controlled temperature capabilities, critical time, high quality standards and highly experienced personnel, DHL Global Forwarding transports these perishable products that demand rigorous handling in optimal conditions anywhere in the world," Rodrigues emphasized.
