For her part, Carolina Vásquez, Chile's commercial attaché in New Delhi, indicated: “Of the total food basket in India, an 33% is represented by protein foods, an 19% for cereals and an 13% for fruits and vegetables. In parallel, it is important to highlight the fact that consumers, both in rural India and the urban part, maintain their preference for fresh products, therefore, there is potential for growth in the medium term, since this type of fruits, like blueberries are rather new in the market, where the consumer has slowly begun to know part of their properties and benefits".

"The agreement concluded with India for the export of blueberries under inspection and avocados under Systems Approach, is a big step for our fruit exports, since shipments were previously impossible due to the fact that fumigation with Methyl Bromide should be applied, which harmed the condition and quality of the fruit. India is advancing increasingly in the technical work in terms of establishing income requirements, but still presents challenges that must be addressed as is the case of high tariffs and open up its economy“, specified the Chilean agricultural attaché in India, Jaime González, during his participation in the Seminar.
