Post-harvest: Chilean company presents last generation disposable thermographs

The increase in the consumption of fresh foods is a fact. And in view of this reality, horticultural producers have a series of challenges to face, including, and perhaps most importantly, the transport of a product of the highest quality.

But how can you reach excellence and efficiency? In the specific case of fruit and vegetables, many specialists agree that the key is how the cold chain is handled at the time of transfer, especially if it is long distances.

For these specific cases, the technology is one of the main allies of the horticulturists, who must avail themselves of diverse tools so that their post-harvest processes are as optimal and impeccable as possible.

Faced with this scenario, the Chilean company Trade Solutions presents the TempTale®4 USB, a disposable device capable of remotely monitoring the temperature in real time of large loads.

According to its own creators, the devices work through a USB port 2.0, which has a built-in microprocessor that can be installed easily on any computer.

In this way, the producers will be able to collect the data of the cargo even if it is already on its way to its export destination. In fact, the company makes it clear that there is no need to use software applications or purchase download equipment to access the requested information.

It also highlights that the report of the cold chain of the products can be visualized in any reading program, as long as it is compatible with Adobe. This facilitates, among other things, the rapid decision making for the disposition of the product.

Also, those interested in knowing the data of how the product is going can obtain the temperature indicators during the trip through their email without the need to use additional processes.

And although the use of these devices is not something new within the world agronomic industry, it is important to highlight that every year products with greater technological capacity and attractive novelties are put on sale.
