Exports of this product reached US $ 7.8 million in January-May period

Cranberry has become the star of Lambayeque's export offer. In the first five months of this year, blueberry exports from this region grew exponentially reaching 7 million 792,305 dollars, said the Association of Exporters (Adex).

Adex said that Lambayeque's agricultural exports are headed by avocados (US $ 72.7 million), grapes (US $ 13.6 million), mangoes (US $ 11.1 million), passion fruit juice (US $ 10.1 million) and blueberries (US $ 7.8 million).

According to the Adex Data Trade system, Lambayeque In the January to May period, 2016 did not deliver blueberry shipments abroad; however, in a similar period of the 2017 exported for a value of 93,288 dollars, then passed to 291,444 dollars in the 2018. He also added that Lambayeque is the northern region of the country, which during the first five months of the year presents favorable figures in its exports, since from January to May its total shipments totaled 221 million 744,000 dollars and increased by 20.4 percent with relationship to similar period last year.

Its Traditional exports totaled 17 million 243,000 dollars and increased by 27.41 percent, being led by coffee shipments (Lambayeque is a collecting region) that as of May this year reached 12.1 million dollars.

With respect to their Non-Traditional exports, these had a participation of 92.22% and their offices reached 204 million 490,000 dollars, being headed by avocados, other vegetables prepared or preserved without freezing, fresh grapes, fresh or dried mangoes, mango cooked in water or steamed, passion fruit juice, prepared or preserved mangoes and blueberries.

Specialists argue that, if Lambayeque maintains an annual average growth rate of Lambayecan exports in 20 percent, added to its portfolio of 140 products to export, it could increase 300 millions of dollars to 2021; because last year lambayecanas exports closed in 525 millions of dollars.
