Committee of Cranberries of Chile worried about fruit fly

Despite this threat of the fruit fly, against all odds a good season is expected and production is not affected.

According to the Technical Manager of the Committee of Cranberries of Chile, JULIA PINTO, this fly is not quarantine and is also present in the destination markets, even though it worries because it harms the fruit when it is introduced to it, that is why they have been warning for a long time the producers of the Araucanía to the south.

That is why they alert the producers so that they carry out a permanent monitoring and avoid the damage to their production.

The season has some delay, but it is developing in a very similar way to that of the 2015-2016 years, said JULIA PINTO.

The Technical Manager of the Cranberry Committee of Chile believes that the fruit has been built very well with good cold hours and has accumulated quite well the days degrees and if the producer - adds - has done all the pruning and nutrition management in a balanced way , estimates that the fruit has had the conditions for it to develop and be well constructed. The important thing - he said - is to manage a good harvest, for example with the right manpower and as it has rained a lot in the south, adopt the appropriate measures for the subject of mushrooms.
