China halved the import duty for fresh Argentine blueberries

The measure contemplates a reduction of 30% to 15% to fresh blueberries and from 25% to 15% to dried cranberries, which represents an important news for the sector in Argentina

Argentina returned this year to be included in the list of nations favored by China to export products with differential tariffs.

The Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China extended for 2019 the temporary reduction of 5% to 2% of the import tariff for frozen prawns, from 6% to 2% for whey, from 15% to 8% for hard cheeses and 15 % to 4% in pet food.

"The measure also adds a drop of 30% to 15% to fresh blueberries and 25% to 15% to dried cranberries, which represents an important news for the sector in Argentina, since the effective opening of this 2018 market achieved in November adds this improvement in its competitiveness to be able to export to China, "said today a statement released by the Secretary of Agribusiness.

"This type of actions of one of our main trading partners is a new stimulus for the insertion of our agro-industrial products, and goes hand in hand with strengthening the link with China," he added.

Since the end of 2016, the Ministry of Finance of China has published at least once a year, which establishes the temporary reduction of tariffs on the importation of different products not produced locally or necessary to supply inputs to specific industry chains.

The last measure in this regard includes 706 products, of which 95 correspond to agro-industrial products over which China has no production or is a net importer. Argentina, along with many other nations of the world, benefited.
