Ukraine will increase the export of fruits, berries and nuts

13% according to the 2021 forecasts of the local UCAB

In 2021, Ukraine will increase exports of fruits, berries and nuts. According to the first estimates released in recent days by the local UCAB (Ukrainian Agricultural Business Club), 177 thousand tons of these delicacies will be exported throughout the period, 13% more than in 2020.

“It should be noted that if previous exports in this category were dominated by apples and walnuts, now a significant part goes to wild berries. According to the results of the first 10 months of 2021, wild berries represent 45% of all natural fruit exports." Among these, the largest part are raspberries (20% of exports in this category) and blueberries (17%). Berries (eg red and black currants, blackberries, wild blueberries) are sold both fresh and frozen. This is an estimate, so it is possible that it will be adjusted slightly at the end of the year. The data related to the export of apples in the last two months of 2021 could suffer variations, given the excellent harvest this year," he commented. Svitlana Lytvyn , UCAB analyst .

The main importers of fruits, berries and nuts from Ukraine are the countries of the European Union, which together generate 86% of Ukraine's export earnings in this product category. Among them, the largest importers are: Poland (34% of Ukraine's export earnings), Germany (9%) and France (8%). This concentration in the European market is mainly due to territorial proximity, as well as the increase in demand from Europeans for this type of product.
