Commercial, business and tourism relations between Michoacán and the European Union are strengthened: Bedolla

Morelia, Michoacán, November 4, 2024.- Michoacán is ready to show its products to the world, said Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, pointing out that the tour through Italy and Sweden strengthened the commercial, business and tourism relationship between Michoacán, after the signing of agreements for business attraction, commercial alliances and agreements for the export of products such as avocado, lemon and berries.

The president said that during his work tour of the Italian cities of Rome, Reggio Emilia and Vipiteno, and the Swedish cities of Stockholm and Södertälje, actions were taken to promote the state as part of the efforts to strengthen production, economy and tourism, thereby projecting Michoacán on the map of foreign investments.

He highlighted that during the tour meetings were held with the Mexican ambassador to Italy, Carlos García de Alba, and the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Mexico in Italy (CaMexItal), Letizia Magaldi, with whom a coordination agreement was signed to attract Italian companies to Michoacán.

Meanwhile, in Reggio Emilia, the president of the Organization for an International Geographical Indications Network (OriGIn) and general director of the Parmigiano Reggiano Consortium, Riccardo Deserti, announced the decision to hold its biannual general meeting in Morelia in 2025, where around 600 producers and associated institutions from 40 countries around the world will participate.

Likewise, producers of Cotija and Parmigiano Reggiano cheese forged an alliance and shared experiences of artisanal production and certification of these cheeses; and in Vipiteno, the president and the Secretary of Urban Development and Mobility, Gladyz Butanda Macías, visited the Leitner plant, an Italian company that will build the cable car in Morelia.

In addition, during this tour of Italy, it was agreed that traditional cooks from Michoacán would participate in the ninth World Forum of Mexican Gastronomy, to be held in Calabria, Italy from November 29 to December 1 of this year.

Meanwhile, in Sweden, Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla and members of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce strengthened coordination to support the development, certification and export of products such as avocado, lemon and berries.

This is how competitive advantages for investment in the port were presented to Business Sweden, a public-private organisation specialising in international expansion, while Daniel Henriksson, regional manager of the Swedish company Scania Mining, spoke.

They agreed to visit the port of Lázaro Cárdenas in early 2025 to consider expanding their operations and selling sustainable transport vehicles in Michoacán.

Together with members of Food Collective, a Swedish organization that promotes the marketing of fresh, processed and frozen agricultural products, they outlined a work route to export Michoacan lemons to the European country and a collaboration agreement would be formalized in the first quarter of 2025.

Meanwhile, with the Director General for Trade Policies of the Ministry of Trade and International Cooperation of Stockholm, Camilla Mellander, they agreed to strengthen ties for trade cooperation between Michoacán and Sweden.
