The Biobío Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) informs blueberry producers in the region, who are in the control areas, that as of today, October 16, they will be able to begin chemical applications to control the first generation of the vine cluster moth, Lobesia botrana.

In this regard, the Regional Director of the SAG of Biobío, Iván Ramírez Delpín, indicated that between October 16 and 26, blueberry producers must make these applications, giving notice to the SAG at least 48 hours before the start of each application, and either in person, by mail or by phone. On the premises where conventional or organic programs are implemented, the necessary applications must be made to cover 30 days continuously from the beginning of the first application made, according to the periods of protection of each insecticide.

In order that there are no moments of unprotection, it is suggested to start consecutive applications two days before the end of the first product protection period.

Information about pesticide protection periods, the list of products authorized for the control of Lobesia botrana, the declarations of effectiveness, the technical considerations together with the contacts of the sector offices are available on the Service's website www.sag.cl.

To date, 15 producers in the region are under the blueberry control area, with a total of 175,18 hectares in the communes of Los Ángeles, Tucapel, Mulchén and Yumbel.
