First maritime container of Peruvian blueberries finally arrives in China

The 24 of 2017 of February in the fruit market of Jiangnan of Guangzhou (Guangdong, China), opened the first maritime container of Peruvian blueberries.

The shipment comes from the company composed of Hortifrut -owner, partner and producer of Naturipe Farms- and its Peruvian partner Talsa. The container was received by SVAFruits, a commercial office in Shanghai formed by a joint venture between Hortifrut and San Clemente.

This first shipment contained more than 3.500 blueberry boxes labeled Naturipe, of the variety Rocío, special property of the Hortifrut genetic program and known for its "large size and sweet taste".

To celebrate this historic achievement, the ceremony was attended by the honorable Mr. David Gamara (Consul General of Peru in Guangzhou), Mr. Ye Canjing (General Director of the Fruit Market of Jiangnan), Mr. Vladimir Kocerha (Commercial Commissioner of Peru in Shanghai), Felipe Claro (General Manager of SVA Fruits), Mr. Huang (owner of the company Faikee Fruits), and a large number of people from other importing companies and wholesalers.

sav-fruit-1The container was opened while a large crowd of customers and importers watched, all excited to see this historic arrival that has been anticipated for quite some time.

This event was possible thanks to the joint efforts of Peruvian and Chinese authorities during the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum during 2016.

In November of 2016, we saw the first successful arrival of blueberries as part of the initial tests between AQSIQ and SENASA, to finally have the arrival of the first commercial flight the 12 of February to the market of Huizhan, in Shanghai, where Hortifrut sends the first 1.200 Rocío variety boxes.

There is great enthusiasm and hope for the next season of Peruvian blueberries, which will begin next June. Government officials and Peruvian producers are very enthusiastic about the potential offered by the Asian market and anticipate that China will soon become one of its largest export markets with sales of more than 10 million dollars.
