Mincetur: AGROFEST 2024 will boost agro-exports and the economy

The event will take place from June 12 to 14 at Legado – Sede Videna, in the San Luis district.

Lima, May 2024.- The ministers of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, Ángel Manero, and of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Elizabeth Galdo, announced the launch of the third edition of the AGROFEST 2024, organized by the Association of Agricultural Producers Guilds of Peru (AGAP), and which will take place from June 12 to 14 at Legado – Sede Videna, in the district of San Luis.

“The third edition of AGROFEST 2024 is an event that aims to increase the competitiveness of the agricultural sector and position our country as a power in food provision for the world. Initiatives like this seek to boost our agro-exports and contribute to the dynamism of our economy,” said the head of Mincetur, Elizabeth Galdo.

For his part, the Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, Ángel Manero, highlighted the organization of this festival and its importance for the agricultural sector. In addition, he pointed out that 2024 is emerging as a key year for agriculture due to the advances generated in the field.

«This year we are going to have a new framework promoting agro-exports with the new agrarian law, which adds to all the efforts being made to bring sustainable investments to the Amazon, the efforts of biotechnology and its innovations. In the agricultural sector there are very important reforms, this year will go down in history," he indicated.

AGROFEST 2024 It is configured as a unique and highly valuable space to boost the competitiveness of agriculture in the country, which seeks to increase productivity throughout the value chain, which includes agriculture and agribusiness.

“Agriculture is a vital and strategic sector for countries. Despite the difficulties we have had last year and the recent poverty numbers, this space is one to move the Peruvian agricultural sector forward, especially because of the personalities and authorities who support us," said the president of AGAP, Gabriel Amaro.

He explained that private and state institutions, financing companies, producer unions, production companies, small farmers, among others, will participate in the event. In addition, the second university Summit will be launched, in collaboration with the National Agrarian University La Molina.

Among the topics that will be part of the conferences are panels such as “Advantages for agro-exports compared to national port development”, “A new impulse for Peruvian agriculture”, “Impact of the El Niño Phenomenon on the results of the grape export campaign table”, among others.

The launching ceremony of AGROFEST 2024 was attended by the Minister of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, Ángel Manero; the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Elizabeth Galdo; the president of the Agrarian Commission of Congress, Cruz María Zeta; the executive director of Proinversión, José Salardi; and the president of AGAP, Gabriel Amaro.
