Israel, Lithuania and Norway are the destinations for new exports of blueberry entrerrianos

In November of the 2018, Argentina made the first shipment of blueberries to China. It was a shipment of 720 kilos of fresh blueberries from Entre Ríos to the city of Shenzhen after the opening of that market.

Earlier this year, the Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China announced a decrease from 30 to 15% to fresh blueberries and from 25 to 15% for dried fruit, which improved the competitiveness of the local sector, considering that Main competitors in the area of Peru and Chile do not have any type of tariff.

In addition, the Israeli market for blueberry production was opened as the first shipment of Argentine blueberries to that destination was completed.
This market had been closed two years ago for health reasons, and after intense public and private interaction, it was reopened. The first shipment was made by plane to Madrid, while last Friday a new shipment of merchandise was made to Tel Aviv.

This was reported by Alejandro Pannunzio, president of the Association of Blueberry Producers of Mesopotamia Argentina (APAMA) and vice president of the Argentine Blueberry Committee (ABC), the shipment consisted of four pallets and was made by the company Berries del Sol, from Colonia Ayuí , province of Entre Ríos.

On the other hand, Pannunzio said that the domestic market, “continues to develop, and it is very important for our activity to have that growth, not only to locate a good part of our fruit, but also because of the enormous health benefits it generates Blueberry consumption. Fortunately, many prefer it for its flavor, many for its nutraceutical properties and basically all children love it. ”

In this scenario of possibilities offered by the domestic and international markets, blueberry producers have long been demanding measures to improve competitiveness, based on a reduction in tax pressure, which, according to them, is something that blocks competitiveness and generates uncertainty: “we have scheduled a meeting at the Ministry of Agroindustry tomorrow precisely to bring this issue, but above all the most important, which is the non-conversion of the currencies with which we charge, since in At this moment, what we must charge in dollars we are required to convert it into pesos, something that does not serve us and that makes us lose the value of both what we sell and all the inputs we need to buy, which is paid in dollars and so we have a devaluation that is difficult to sustain, ”explained Pannunzio.

In addition, the businessman said that “the tax burden that we have is tremendous, such as withholdings, the reduction of refunds, the tax on gross income that affects the entire chain, and the provincial and municipal taxes that impact on the electricity tariff. "While highlighting that" the support of the provincial government and the municipality of Concordia in all that is necessary to improve situations praises us and also makes us think that we are an important source of work, since for each hectare of sowing they work ten people and there are many families that live from this and that is also our responsibility ”.

Finally, the businessman mentioned that in addition to this export to Israel, an export to Lithuania was carried out last few days, a next being scheduled for next week to Norway.
