“There are many opportunities for berries globally”

The prospect of a growing demand for high-quality berries outside the EU is pushing Surberry to continue investing in improving its quality and service with a new warehouse in France and integrated production.

On its tenth anniversary, Surberry reaffirms the line of work they have carried out so far for the next 10 years. "We wanted to be a guarantee of premium fruit and that will continue to be our roadmap," says its manager Harold Huot when we interviewed him. With this strategy, The company has made a strong commitment to improve its customer service this year through a new warehouse in Perpignan with the aim of offering a more direct and closer treatment to its clients in France. “We want to pay more attention to supermarket chains by ensuring good quality control of our products,” explains Huot.

Likewise, The company has invested in a new farm in Huelva to, among other reasons, test new varieties of berries. in the search, as always, for premium fruit, within the framework of its policy of continuous improvement of product quality. “It is a way of testing new genetic materials that can provide an extra to the market in a more direct way, as well as having a farm as a model to advise the rest of our farmers on our know-how,” explains the manager.

In parallel form, The Huelva-based company continues to grow in production with partner farmers in Morocco, with an increasingly developed technical and commercial team, responding to demand alongside its productions from Portugal, France and Spain, its country of origin.

A sector with a future

Despite the difficulties that the berry sector may face, for Huot, They are products with a growing demand. His global vision when traveling around the world provides him with information on the interest of many markets in these fruits, such as: Middle East, United States or Asian countries in general.

Furthermore, he points out that Morocco is doing a great deal of commercial work outside Europe that could benefit the market flow for berries on the continent itself as supply is reduced.

In this context, Surberry will continue to strive to be a benchmark for premium berries in international markets and to achieve progressive growth, both in production and in customers. Here’s to another 10 years of success.
