The panelists agreed on the diagnosis of the Mexican industry regarding the challenges it must face, addressing labor shortages, the exchange rate, the climate threat, high consumer standards, competition, little state support and the need to continue advancing in the varietal change, in the search for greater competitiveness and differentiation.
Each of the Round Table participants contributed with their analytical and knowledgeable view of the industry, contributing a large amount of detail to the conversation, a product of the vast experience they represent.
When it came to expanding on the advantages and opportunities of the Mexican industry in the current scenario, they of course highlighted the proximity of the large North American market, although they also strongly agreed with the strategy of moving forward decisively in promoting local consumption. in the perspective of building it as a potential market for the blueberry of the Mexican industry.

The first day closed with the participation of the commercial manager of Fallcreek Peru, Julio Zavala, who gave a complete presentation on the Peruvian blueberry season and the main factors of the crisis that affected its production and yields. Highlighting the differentiation of the climate impact of El Niño, by regions and by the main companies.
Zavala surprised the attendees after analyzing the factors that explain the great drop in Peruvian production, which exceeds -20% and brings it closer to a campaign that only exceeds 200 thousand tons, ensuring that by 2025 the Peruvian industry will place 450 thousand tons in the world markets and by 2026 the Peruvian campaign will reach 500 thousand tons.
