Export of blueberries by Áncash doubled in 2019

Áncash has 570 hectares of blueberries in full production, distributed in the provinces of Huarmey and Huaylas, the main varieties being Biloxi and Emerald.

In 2019, exports of fresh blueberries by the Ancash region reached more than 3 thousand tons, a volume that doubled the shipments of 2018, reported the National Agricultural Health Service (Senasa).

He stressed that the economic sustainability of this crop has allowed the blueberry agro-export to increase for this year, reaching 570 hectares in full production, distributed in the provinces of Huarmey and Huaylas.

The health authority indicated that the main export varieties in Áncash are Biloxi and Emerald, with a production period from April to December of each year.

The main exporting companies are Intipa Foods, Green Vegetables & Flowers, EXFRUSUR, Agrícola La Venta and Fundo los Paltos, which register shipments to countries such as Spain, France, England, Holland, the United States, China, Germany, Thailand, United Arab Emirates and Singapore .

For this 2019 campaign, Senasa certified 427 shipments, all with cold treatment, in order to ensure phytosanitary status and prevent the entry of quarantine pests to importing countries.
