Spain: The Blueberry and Red Fruit Festival survives the coronavirus and will be on July 24

The City Council has had to adapt the program to sanitary measures

The Blueberry and Red Fruit Festival of Villaviciosa starts on July 24 with the technical conference, organized in collaboration with the Regional Service for Agri-Food Research and Development of Asturias (Serida). The City Council has had to adapt the programming to comply with the protocols and health regulations, so for the first time it will be necessary to register in advance in order to attend. This can be done through email (dinamizadora@ayto-villaviciosa.org) or by phone 985893202.

The technical conference, which as every year will take place at the Riera theater, will begin at 9.30 am with the official opening by the municipal authorities and the research center. Subsequently, the conference 'Entomophilic pollination of blueberries: insect communities and importance for production' will take place, by Marcos Miñaro, researcher at Serida.

Fernando Gerino Ferreiros will present the Depofroitos project, developed by the Diputación de Pontevedra. After the coffee break. Jesica Panchi, from the Bioplanet technical department, will speak about 'Biological control of Drosophila suzukii through the use of Trichopria drosophilae'. The morning will end with Luis Duque, who will analyze the types of toppings in the production of fresh blueberries and the use of new materials to increase quality.
