Director of Odepa accompanies the Minister of Agriculture on an official visit to the US

The director of Odepa, María Emilia Undurraga, accompanies the Minister of Agriculture, Antonio Walker, on an official visit to the USA. The authorities held a meeting with the US Under Secretary of Agriculture for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs (FAS), Ted McKinney and the US Under Secretary of Agriculture for Marketing and Regulatory Programs (APHIS), Greg Ibach, with whom they analyzed US sanitary measures to speed up the system approach processes of blueberries and table grapes.

They also met with the Undersecretary of the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), Mindy Brashears, to discuss health and safety issues between the two countries.

“We have to open the US market for national blueberries, especially from Ñuble and Biobío. We are hopeful and that is why we came to the United States, that this market for blueberries can be opened without fumigation and to be able to integrate the system aproach ”, with these words, the Minister of Agriculture, Antonio Walker, referred to the issues discussed with agrarian authorities from the United States on his visit to Washington.

For the director of Odepa it has been a very fruitful trip, since the permanent dialogue with the authorities of that USA. They collaborate in having a good commercial exchange with that country. The director of the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG), Horacio Bórquez and the Chilean Ambassador to the United States, Alfonso Silva, also participated in these meetings.
