Monday, March 9th in Peru:

Decisions that will improve the upcoming blueberry season

A full day in the field to observe, compare, and ask questions about pot and soil-grown production, focusing on key protocols and measurable criteria that translate into concrete actions on the farm. The technical tour takes place in the lead-up to the Lima meeting and is part of the official program.

Adjusting irrigation and nutrition to commercial objectives, ensuring high yields, size, firmness and condition at destination, optimizing post-harvest and reading the windows of opportunity in a timely manner blueberry market It demands evidence and comparability. That is the proposal of the Technical Tour Peru 2026, framed in the International Blueberries Seminar Lima 2026: combine on-site observation, technical validation, and executive conversation to return with an actionable plan on what to measure, how to adjust, and with what indicators to monitor progress.

Why does this field day matter?

The decisions that drive high yields, stability, and optimal condition at the destination stem from observing management practices in real-world situations. During the Technical Tour Peru 2026 two will be covered blueberry fields with over 700 hectares and different production approaches. The goal is to compare both production formats in the face of challenging climates and demanding commercial targets, and return with a defined adjustment plan.

Pots vs. soil: useful comparability

The project compares potted and in-ground cultivation methods to evaluate, using comparable criteria, pH, substrates, fertigation, water management, and root development. This practical approach allows participants to decide when each system is most suitable, how to prioritize investments, and which metrics to use to assess the impact.

Protocols that make a difference

Throughout the visit, nutrition and biostimulation protocols, irrigation, phytosanitary management, and the use of bio-inputs will be reviewed, in addition to harvesting and post-harvest criteria. The varietal strategy focused on post-harvest life and climate resilience will also be observed, always with a focus on verifiable results.
