Continental Grain Company announces investment in Agroberries to accelerate its global expansion

Continental Grain Company (“Conti”) today announced an investment in Agroberries, a leading global company in the production, marketing and distribution of berries. Agroberries markets more than 50.000 tons of berries per year, originating from its own production base of more than 2.000 hectares, in addition to a diverse group of associated producers. Its productive base expands in 5 countries, which include the most productive regions in the world.

The growing preference of consumers for healthy products has strongly increased the consumption of fresh fruit, with "superfruits" leading the dynamism. Given their high nutritional value, the demand for fresh berries continues to grow, making the category one of the fastest growing in supermarkets around the world. As a result, consumers are looking for a year-round supply of high-quality berries.

Conti's investment will allow Agroberries to expand its production base and global distribution capabilities, both organically and inorganically, in addition to accelerating the development and growth of its proprietary genetic varieties, thus strengthening its product portfolio throughout the year. As a long-term partner, the global firm specialized in food and agribusiness brings with it a vast international network and operational expertise to drive the development and expansion of the business to new geographies and support its strategic development.

Jorge Varela, Co-founder and CEO of Agroberries, highlighted: “I am excited about the possibilities that this partnership with Conti opens up, and I am sure that it will accelerate our global expansion, allow our clients access to more exclusive varieties of berries and offer interesting challenges and professional development opportunities to our collaborators” .

Carlos Poblete and Ignacio Sanz are Co-Heads of Conti Latin America. Charles commented: “We have known the Agroberries team for years and believe the company is well positioned to capitalize on a broad spectrum of growth opportunities”. Ignatius added: “We are excited about our investment in Agroberries and contributing to this new stage of global expansion. Agroberries has established itself as a global supplier of high-quality berries, and we will try to expand its reach through strategic acquisitions."
