Start to operate organic agriculture agreement with Brazil

The implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding of Organic Products between Chile and Brazil, which will allow promoting the trade of this type of products in both countries by mutually recognizing their certification and control systems. The initiative has been highly anticipated by exporters and importers of organic products, and has culminated after a great work of understanding and coordination between both countries, whose negotiation in the case of Chile led the Ministry of Agriculture through the Agricultural and Livestock Service , along with the Coordination of Agroecology and Organic Production of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply of Brazil.

The Minister of Agriculture, Antonio Walker, was very satisfied with the agreement reached, noting that "it is a tremendous business opportunity for Chilean organic producers. Brazil is a great market for our country, and its consumers are very interested in everything related to agroecological production. Therefore, this is a door that opens to those who have chosen this type of more sustainable agriculture, and that will now lead to Brazil the excellence of national products.

In this way, fresh and processed vegetable products authorized under the scope of this agreement may be exported and commercialized in Chile and Brazil, which must include the Chilean or Brazilian organic seal (which has two that differentiate the origin of the certification; if it corresponds to a certifying company or a participatory guarantee system).

The SAG is conducting a survey of organic products with export potential for this destination, in order to inform the Brazilian counterpart and expedite the entry of our products into this important market.
