Peruvian agricultural exports exceed US$2,000 billion in the European market
Between January and August of this year, Peru has experienced a notable increase in its agricultural exports to Europe, reaching the impressive figure of 2,318 million dollars. This increase of 28.2% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the National Association of Exporters (ADEX), is a clear indicator of the growing interest and demand for Peruvian products in the European market. This growth not only underlines Peru's competitiveness in the agricultural export field, but also reflects the constant effort of national producers to raise the quality and diversity of their offer in an increasingly demanding global context.
Peruvian products have found their way to a number of European countries, such as the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom and Germany, but have also reached markets such as Belgium, Italy, France, Russia, Sweden, Denmark and Greece. This geographical diversification of exports is a testament to the recognition that Peruvian products have achieved abroad. Some of the fruits and other products that have stood out in these operations are avocados, coffee, cocoa beans, blueberries and mangos. In addition, exports of fresh asparagus, grapes, bananas, citrus fruits, pomegranates, canned asparagus, passion fruit juice, piquillo peppers and ginger have also contributed to strengthening Peru's presence as a key supplier in the European agri-food sector.
The growing inclination of European consumers towards fresh and healthy products has benefited Peruvian producers, who have been able to adapt to these demands, ensuring the quality of their products through certifications and compliance with international standards. These factors have been decisive in ensuring the acceptance and positioning of Peruvian products in various markets on the continent.
Participation in major events such as the SIAL trade fair, which took place in Paris from 19 to 23 October, has created significant opportunities for business exchange.
ADEX has highlighted that sales projections for Peruvian agro-industrial products for next year reach 130.3 million dollars, which represents a significant increase of 30% compared to the previous edition.
During this event, 33 Peruvian companies held a total of 2,410 business meetings with buyers from different parts of the world, providing a favorable platform for establishing solid and long-lasting business relationships. Frozen products, such as IQF mango, IQF blueberries, IQF avocado, as well as frozen orange and pineapple juices, attracted the attention of the audience. Frozen passion fruit, lucuma and soursop pulps also sparked interest among buyers, highlighting the quality and diversity that the Peruvian offer offers internationally.
